The Apocalypse on Tuesday

An eerie scene played out on Tuesday in Atlanta.  Long the butt of jokes is Southerners’ inability to drive in snow, but this week I witnessed at ground level how two inches of snow could bring a Metro area of seven million to its knees.  I actually don’t think we deserve this criticism as Atlanta is an extremely hilly city.  I will say that the government officials responsible for our safety hopefully learned some valuable lessons.  Drivers trapped in cars for hours; thirty minutes to move 100 feet; cars running out of gas and abandoned on the roadways.  One client chronicled how it took them two hours to get out of an urban parking deck and then six hours to travel five miles.  Atlanta looked liked the opening scene to the Zombie Apocalyptic show “The Walking Dead.”  We recently discussed the “Black Swan” event (one that no one could have predicted), but how well prepared were you for the event in Atlanta that truly was a Black Swan event.
