Food and Water

The source of inspiration for the Weekly this week was a photo in the NY times capturing Lake Mead, which was created in the 1930s by the construction of the Hover Dam.  The water level of the Lake is at its lowest ever, as starkly shown by the chalky sides that have been revealed over recent months.  The Colorado River used to empty into the Gulf of Baja, but on a recent trip out west, passing through Blythe California I approached a small bridge in the middle of the desert. At this point the mighty Colorado River was so narrow that you could actually jump over it.
