Recent College Graduates: This One Is For You

I have raised two children and I worry about them all the time. The level and topic of worry changes as they grow and mature, but that parental anxiety is always there.

At this time of year, with college graduations almost complete, I am reminded of the post college worry that both parent and graduate face – what’s next and will it involve a fulfilling job. Of course, most parents only really care about their graduate getting a job, since fulfillment can come later.

Over the course of my career I have seen countless graduates pass my office in search of that first job.  Being a brutally honest person I’ve reached the conclusion that our higher education systems need to re-think what they do in the last 4 to 6 weeks of a graduating senior’s year.
