The Futurist and The Realist – How’s The View?
How lovely it would be to have a job that required no more than pondering the future. Most of us get caught up in the day to day of running our lives. Pondering the future might just be about making it to the end of the day!
There is a select group of people, however, that do have the luxury of spending their days thinking only of the future. The profession of “futurist” is a unique job. They are charged with trying to forecast what the world will look like, and what products and services consumers will want. That’s a pretty cool job, but compare this futurist role with those who must focus their time on the drudgery of worrying about the here and now. These “realists” have a laundry list of things to solve as they look at events around the world.
